Well the FIA’s decision has been published in full PDF glory on their site here. It makes interesting reading and clears up quite a few things, but still raises one vital question.
Section 9 (The Decision) part 3 reads:

The FIA anounced last night that McLaren would not recieve any constructor points for the Hangarian race today, and with Hamilton finishing first and Alonso fourth, that was a costly decision.

I will miss two things from Formula One next year. Perhaps surprising, neither are Michael Schumacher. Yes he was a good driver, but I don’t think he deserves a place among the greats purely because he holds a few records. Instead I will miss Cosworth, and Michelin.
