That Fanboys Thing
My post regarding Fanboys and whether Weinstein should leave it alone and let us have the cancer plot recieved a nice link from the people over at Stop Darth Weinstein which I will touch on soon however first, there has been a development.
For those unfamiliar with the story feel free to run off and read that post then come back, I’ll be waiting, and you probably won’t miss much. When you get backjust keep on reading where you left off and we’ll all be fine.
It would appear that LucasFilm have picked up on the slight annoyance of the fans and I would like to point you all to the poll on the left hand side of the What’s New page of the official site. And it might not be surprising to note that, as of me typing this, of the people who have heard about the news, the majority are concerned.
Quite what LucasFilm will do with this is unclear but hopefully should these results remain when the poll closes something may happen. Anyone up for Lucas taking the rights back and making it with a different company?
For those who are unaware of Stop Darth Weinstein the general consensus is, release the real version (with cancer plot) and we will go and happily watch the film. Release it with the ‘new and improved’ plot and we won’t, and we will not watch any of your other films. Now I’m not going to say ‘yay, internet boycott, everyone join in’, that would just be silly. I may well agree that I will not watch the film, unless of course they make a DVD with the real story on it, just because, as far as I am concerned it is just going to be a film to take the proverbial urine out of Star Wars fans. I would also encourage any Star Wars fan who is thinking of watching it to avoid it as it isn’t going to be as good as you can imagine, wait for Clone Wars to come out.
I will not, however, say that I am boycotting all current and any future Weinstein film because they might make something really good that I want to see, and I don’t want to be tied down to not seeing good films because Weinstein mucked up what could, and in all probabilty would, have been a perfectly good one. I will however pledge not to watch any film that is bad from Weinstein, how’s that?
It’s possible someone from Weinstein will follow Stop Darth Weinstein’s link to my blog, they may read this, I doubt it, but just incase, hello valued reader who works for Weinstein. If you have it within your power release the real version of Fanboys, it’s what the public want. If you don’t, please tell someone who does have that influence. We want a film that shows Star Wars fans as most of s actually are, not how the public see us. Give us the cancer plot, we want a funny film, with a good plot, not just cheap laughs.
I doubt we will get the film we really want, yes a majority of the actual film will be there but it’s the ride we want, and that has changed. We now have very hard suspension on a very bumpy road. I hope LucasFilm listen to the fans.
