Pirates and other bad news
Well, I went to see At Worlds End today, however I was then given some rather bad news.
I think it best that I start with the bad news, The ARG Perplex City is no longer in action for an indefinite period. After three years of the game, I’ve been in for just over two, the ARG part of the game has been ceased. It is not the end, as Mind Candy state on the main site here, but it is no longer an active project for us to take part in.
Over the period I have been involved in the game I have met some great people and had a great time. Many of the friends I’ve made, I’m sure I will continue to talk too, and I’m sure there will still be meet ups in the future. The messages from the in game characters can be found here. I would like to extend my thanks to all of those over at Mind Candy who have put in so much hard work over the years, and I hope it will resume some time in the near future.
However, enough of all the vad news and on to a nice new film. Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. I must say that, as with the rest of the series, I was not overly impressed with the film itself. There were some good performances from Chow-Yun-Fat and Geoffrey Rush.
The CGI used within the film was done very well. It blended seamlessly with the real action and enhanced the film wonderfully. Yet again the character of Davy Jones was performed well by Bill Nighy with a very well implemented squid face.
I was looking forward to seeing Keith Richards in the film however his acting skills weren’t exactly that high of a standard.
The three and a half hours was split up with a 15 minute intermission however the film was still far too long, and I have to admit I was expecting it to end before it did. The story is open for a sequel, unfortunately.
All in all, an OK-ish film, not something that strikes me as a home experience, but one that should be seen in the cinema, if at all.
